Samsung Instinct to cost $200

Phonenews has the scoop on the Instinct’s pricing and that $200 price tag definitely competes against the 8GB iPhone 3G. It has a retail price of $449, but you can obtain a $150 with a 2-year plan and just to sweeten the deal, Sprint is adding on another $100 MIR just for the Instinct. Just like the iPhone 3G, you’ll have to tack on one of Sprint’s pricier plans, but it’s still a great price for a great phone. Look for our review on Friday.

Sprint / Samsung should call it iFail or iFlop.

Sprint overcharged my small (US) company for over $50,000.00. We caught them doing it and now they refuse to refund the over-payments. You can read the full story at http://www.sprint-really-sucks.com

I also wrote an open letter to Dan Hesse the Chairman and CEO of Sprint Nextel. It is a good read so please consider reading the letter.

It does look good, but can we agree that its still no iPhone (3G).
I mean, really, it doesn’t even have wi-fi…

Because Wi-Fi is obsolete. The instinct will have FULL INTERNET on the phone provided you have the data package with it. The server its internet runs off of is so much faster than Wi-Fi anyways, plus you can get online anywhere, not just in Wi-Fi hotspots. I have played with a product testing version of this phone, and it really does beat out the IPhone. (which I currently have in my pocket.)

Ok,

I am a Manager at a Sprint retailer.

I personally have toyed around with the Instinct for about 10 hours in total. Anyone who says that it doesn’t hold a candle to the I-Phone, has obviously no idea what they are talking about. In comparrison, the internet is much faster than the 3G I-Phone. The touch flow on the Instinct is amazing! And also, the Navigation on the I-Phone doesnt even compare to the Navigation on the Instinct.

Plus, if you are buying a phone that costs over $200 (well $400 minimum for the I-Phone), wouldn’t you like to do something as simple as send picture messages? I know I would! If I am paying for a phone that doesn’t have the capability to send picture messages, I would be expecting to get a free phone from Verizon.

Now I am not knocking the I-Phone, because I would be the first to admit it is the best phone to come out ever…..well… before June 20th!

Enjoy that Instinct for a nice price of $199 after $100 Mail in Rebate! I know I will!

How can you compare against the 3G iphone when it is not out yet? What kind of apps will this instinct have? Battery life? (Sure you get a spare battery with it, but where do you carry it?) Sending pictures to a friend via text, I have that feature on my phone now and I rarely use it. Flickr or the new .Me will take care of this for me. Good luck Sprint, it will be a nice attempt.

Wi-fi is obsolete? Uh duh, there are still hundreds of cities in the U.S. (even some with 300K+ population) that don’t have 3G service and may not for years, but all of them have wi-fi hotspots. Buying a phone without wi-fi is just foolish.

I have to agree. Wi-fi will never be obsolete. Foolishness.

Ok first off, the idiot that posted that wi-fi is obsolete, your stupid. Educate yourself before you post something on a public post. Let me point out a few inaccuracies. 1.) wi-fi is not absolute, why the hell do you think wi-fi networks are popping up all over the damn place. Don’t believe me? then tell me why are small cities and big ones alike (which by the way are outside of large urban areas which is normally where 3g support is) are all wi-fi.

thats about how google has made S.F an all wi-fi city. Secondly, don’t talk about the features of a phone if you haven’t tested it yet dipshit. you posted on a device that wasn’t even out yet at the time. I tested the instinct tonight and it was SLOW, certain pages, I had to reload several times just to get it to load and I live in the middle of downtown atlanta; not only that, but at one point it told me that the signal was too weak. I came accross this site after trying to find reviews on the damn thing because it was so horrible. Trust me, i’m not here to advocate for the iphone, actually i’m in the market for a smart phone thats why i wanted to compare both. I reserved judgement on it after I was able to get both in my hands to test. the ease of use on the OS for the iphone and the features on it far surpasses that of the instinct. the only thing the instinct has on the iphone is the 3d gps nav, and i’m pretty sure that that won’t be for long seeing that there are rumors that tomtom will be making an app for the app store on the iphone. You my friend are an idiot, sell the iphone in your pocket and go back to your cave because obviously you don’t know anything about technology.

As for the Sprint retail person, you guys blow, the whole reason I waited for the instinct before going to At&t with the iphone is because I didn’t want to have to pay the $200 termination fee from your sorry ass service. I mean for crying out load, when I walk in a park that is located right in the heart of downtown atlanta, I roam off the verizon network. That shit is inevitable now because evidently no one will come near the damn iphone anytime soon.
