$1000 for 27 inches – Dell’s new UltraSharp 2709W looks UltraNice

I have a 2407WFP (I think) at home and it’s been a fantastic monitor. Of course, having paid $700 for it, I certainly expect it to be nice. Same with this, their newest 27-inch model [Update: looks like Dell has removed the page. Thanks for the tip, Jason]. It’s going to set you back a G, but if it’s anything like mine, it will be sharp, bright, and responsive, not to mention all the inputs you could ever want, plus USB hubs and a multi-card reader. 3000:1 contrast ratio, 1920×1200 res, and 6ms response time round it out. It’s a solid package. I think it’s been floating around in internet drydock for a while, but today is its maiden voyage so you’ll start seeing real reviews.

The one problem I have had with my Dell UltraSharp monitor is color reproduction issues depending on your viewing angle. This is of course and inherent problem with the technology, but some monitors handle it better than others. I ordered mine sight unseen based on reviews, but if you’re nervous about it, be sure to drop by Frye’s or something and take a gander.
