Siren.gif: Blizzard splash page updated with eyes or something, probably means Diablo III

Oh my stars, the Blizzard Web site has been updated again! Who saw this coming?
Answer: everyone.
The newest thing, I think, is these eye-looking things in the dead center of Blue Yonder.
A friendly tipster thinks that that means a Diablo III announcement is in the works at some Blizzard thing in a few days.
Feel free to speculate, since I have zero knowledge of the Diablo universe. Presumably the devil is involved.

I love the useless “first comments”…
You need to sit yourself down and play Diablo and Diablo 2 and then Play the D2 Expansion and be enlightened. Essentially in Diablo you quest to destroy the Lord of Terror, Diablo 2 he comes back, but that’s a big spoiler after the obvious since its Diablo 2, but this time he has his own quest, to free his brothers. The three of them form the Prime Evils, cast out of hell by lesser evils. The expansion brings in the second brother and a mystical artifact, the world stone. Demons have a way of corrupting things so yea, it ends around there. Not enough details to ruin the game but by any means if you like Warcraft Diablo isn’t too far out of your grasp. It doesn’t seem like they’d do a Lich King splash like that solely for the fact that we know what he looks like, he’s not entombed he’s just hanging out. Plus that face does look a lot like a demons head. So maybe gaming Steve was right? Either way I want my Official Blizzard announcement
>.<

Blizzard sure knows how to milk their 3 only titles.

That image looks more like a Protoss from StarCraft. Seems to me that the announcement might be more about StarCraft II than Diablo III.

This COULD be an announcement of the new WoW expansion perhaps.

Its got to be for Starcraft 2. No game name has been released for it yet, and im willing to bet that the face is a Xel’Naga, the alien race that nurtured the devlopment of the Protoss and Zerg.
At first glance i thought the face was a Protoss, but why would Blizz single out just that race? For them to reveal a Xel’Naga (who look VERY similar to Protoss) at the same time as a game name, would make alot more sense.
Possible plot could entail the Xel’Naga coming back to purge the galaxy of the Zerg which have been corrupted form the ‘Purity of Essence’ that the Xel’Naga created in them. The loss of the Overminds control gave the whole swarm to Kerrigan who isnt following the Zergs original purpose. The Xel’Naga may be pissed.

The splash screen is for the World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. The icy theme is obvious, in addition to the glowing frozen eyes visible in the current itteration. Compare the partial image of the eyes on the splash screen to the eyes on the right hand side of the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King homepage at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/wrath/
