Get with the program, there a new generation of HMD’s in town:

Sensics make their HMD’s with OLED displayes which are extremly light and do not flicker.
Their top of the line model costs something like 500k dollars and shows 4200×2400 pixel per eye.

If you want something more reasonable, for $27.5k you can get one which shows 2400×600 pixels per eye. (120 degrees horizontal FOV)
That’s twice as many as the one featured in the article above for a third of the price and considerably lighter.
