Bhutan bans laptops in government

The Bhutanese assembly has banned laptops in the house in order to prevent lawmakers from becoming distracted while, well, making laws. With democracy, it seems, comes the terrible lure of FreeCell which, as we all know, is what got us into our whole economic mess in the first place. If the SEC paid as much attention to due diligence as they did to to Bejeweled we wouldn’t be in a recession.

So, laptops are a no-no but my bet is they still allow phone service which, according to their definition, just if not more distracting. What’s next, no driving because they are getting fat from lack of exercise?

Well from someone I know from Bhutan, they don’t even have a mall. I dunno about you, but I can use a little exercise.

guys.. i don’t blame you..i was once asked by my fellow classmates in India if Bhutan had Bullock Carts instead of cars!!!!
but i can’t help wondering about the amount of knowledge you have about Bhutan. if it’s something you are curious about..instead of just writing something you can make a quick GOOGLE ..you will find lot of bhutanese sites and bhutanese forum..you will get the truth….
yeah there was this news about laptops being not allowed to be brought inside the parliament with a proper and valid reason..but some Reuters or BBC reporter made fun of that…they even got the name of the speaker wrong…can you rely on such media?
but you guys can go on making fun of us..
Jon, yeah even mobile phones are not allowed not because parliamentarians play games..because the ringing of phones distract the session..i guess it’s same in your “DEVELOPED” country too!!!
Gigi..no we don’t have a Mall ..but what is so great in having a mall..or what is wrong with not having a mall? we have lot of mini malls and supermarkets ..and people don’t complain!!
other thing in the “not have’ lists are ..traffic light, sale of tobacco products, Big International Airport, skyscrapers,McDonalds & KFCs …let me know if you are curious about other things..Bhutan may not have most of the things you might imagine about. but we are happy!
