Citizen Reviewer Opportunity: Steelseries Ikari Laser mouse

Since the most I ever do with my mouse is scroll up and down looking at dolphin porn, I don’t consider myself the best judge of a high-end gaming mouse from Steelseries. The Ikari has a bunch of insane settings including CPI modification, high sample rate, and built-in macros. It’s basically designed for the people who shoot me in the head whenever I try to play Counter-Strike online.
That said, one lucky commenter who can convince me that they’re worthy of this mouse will receive it to review and keep. All we ask is that you write a review in BFF when you’ve played with it for a while. Comment away, gamers, and become a CrunchGear Citizen Reviewer (TM) (R) (:P).
UPDATE - The winner is DrStrangelove:
Let me start by saying that I’m not a FPS person. Having me play Counter-Strike is like having Michael Vick watch your dogs for the weekend while you’re away; it’s a poor life decision. I’m an RTS guy – mostly gems like StarCraft in it’s pixilated glory.
Two months ago my mouse bit the dust. Since then I haven’t had much in the way of disposable income, so I’ve had to resort to using the track pad and little red dot in the middle of my ThinkPad’s keyboard… I could have stopped purchasing food to buy a new mouse, but eating is easily my second favorite pastime. This is no way to live, I tell you! Not only is it damn near impossible to effectively play any sort of game on my computer, but now I can no longer partake in my favorite pastime of getting hammered with my roommates and playing Portal separately, seeing who can go the longest without throwing up…
We at CG support drunk gaming wholeheartedly.

I have been using the SteelSeries SteelSound 5H V2 USB headset for over a year and a half now and I have absolutely loved it. The quality and craftsmanship are unparalleled. Every co-worker and gaming buddy have been jealous of them. SteelSeries puts a lot of time and effort into making quality, reliable products.
It just so happens that my Logitech MX518 gaming mouse just gave up the ghost after a year of frequent gaming. I was just looking on Newegg at gaming mice when I read this post. I would love the opportunity to use and test this mouse from SteelSeries. Cause, ya know, I gotta get my frag on!!!

I’m a professional console gamer (Team vBi) who has been looking into playing more PC games lately but my mouse (a wireless and heavy Mighty Mouse) has been holding me back from getting more into it. I also just recently got Boot Camp installed on my MBP for the sole purpose of gaming but still the mouse has been the issue for me.
I’ve also had the pleasure of meeting a bunch of the Steel Series guys down at CPL Dallas last year. Nice group of people, we sat and played Quake 4 on Steel Series equipment all weekend.

I’ve got one of these bad-boys. I’ve used Razer’s since the original Boomslang and upgraded to the SteelSeries at work because it looked cool. But… I want you to completely disregard the fact that this is cool and fast and sexy and will probably make you the best CS player ever… This mouse will help you pickup girls, get a better job and actually increase fuel efficiency of your car. So start writing the best “I deserve this because…” fellow readers… this mouse will change your life. For-ev-er.

I don’t need this mouse, and have never used a SteelSeries product. I’m happy with my Logitech G5 for all my FPS needs (currently playing through Crysis after squeezing every last minute of entertainment out of the Orange Box). If you want an unbiased review from a not-quite-hardcore gamer, then you’ve found the right guy. After reviewing the Ikari, and if it doesn’t surpass my G5, my left-handed brother would become the lucky recipient since the poor bastard can’t use a standard right-handed gaming mouse.

I spend too much time in front of computers, I have a “gaming” mouse that had no reviews and turned out to be very lack luster. I’ve always enjoyed reviewing games and movies and hardware. Obviously I’m not a Crunch Gear pro but I’m unbiased as they come, on the border of apathetic, and would enjoy writing a review. I’m hoping it does one of two things: 1)Sucks more than my mouse or 2) Rocks more than my limited mousing experience. I have a variety of applications to test it on and as I have a need for new and shiny things this will curb my buyer desire. And I have cancer.
…
Okay so I kinda lied, just send it my way. Win-Win situation.
…
You can tell everyone I have cancer if it makes it any easier.

The current mouse I am using is the Razer Lachesis. I have also used Razer’s other mouse: Death Adder, and before that the Logitech G5. Unfortunately, my G5 has disappeared, my Death Adder has been given to my brother, and my Razer Lachesis is beginning to malfunction.
I have been playing FPS for several years and plan to continue playing FPS. I am an adept counter-strike player and I have entered tournaments and done very well in them. Playing FPS in the competition requires dedication and skill. The small gaming edges that aid you can determine the turnouts of the matches. These boosts can really add up in the end. For example, if you had one person play with a laptop and very standard equipment that is in a basic set-up, that person wouldn’t play nearly as well as the one who is provided with nicer equipment to play with.
In addition to playing FPS, I also play RTS very well. There is a lot of precision required to successfully micro your units in a battle. A nicer mouse can shave important seconds off of each and every move you make. You can easily be one step ahead of the game.
Winning may not be everything but it sure is more fun to win than to lose. Gaming is for leisure and having a good time, right? These gaming mice can enhance the fun and performance of several kinds of video games. If you want a gamer with high expectations to review the Steelseries Ikari Laser mouse, then I’m your man.

Skyllus,
What ever happened to your Live account? Did they find and bring to justice the dirty rats who jacked it for Recon?
I want to know the rest of the story!
John,
Skyllus should get the mouse. Or the dude with fake cancer. Either one.

I need help. You see, I have been trying for months now to beat this new game on my computer that is based on the exciting world of bomb detecting and diffusing. I’ve tried multiple times to beat this game and save the world. However I’ve got one big hurdle in my way.
I’m using my Dell brand mouse (with mouse ball) from the year 2000. It has proven to be a loyal companion, but lately it has been testy. I have been trying to beat my game, at least once, in advanced mode, since I got this mouse. Every time I get close, the stupid mouse clicks on the wrong box and we blow up the game.
Please send me the new mouse and help save the world!
