We’ll all be dead before XM and Sirius merge, but the two companies would like the whole wide world (or whoever reads PR Newswire) to know how they think they’ll end up financially once they’re one company. (What an awfully constructed sentence.) The headline here is the combined company will have positive cash flow in 2009.
They did re-state that, technically, Sirius will be taking over the assets of XM.
So, pretty boring financials that might please Wall Street, but we couldn’t really give a toss about. I’d like to know what sort of “clerical error” led to XM not paying Opie & Anthony for the past two months.

An “error” that gives them something to talk about and a reason to look forward to being absorbed into Sirius. Where they probably won’t make the same error.
I’ve had “clerical errors” that resulted in getting two paychecks instead of one for about a month. It works both ways…
Ron and Fez, noon to 3.
The economy is heading towards a recession now and it is going to get worse. Their merger could not happen in a worse economic environment. Working folks will have to decide between gas/food/energy and expendable things like XM/Sirius and Starbucks. XM/Sirius/SBux are bearish and extremely volatile.
I was once a subscriber to both XM/Sirius, I have since churned both of my subs in favor of Pinchy’s free usenet posts. I have a hard time listening live anyway.
Will Mel contract with Opie and Anthony/Ron and Fez?
Mel, the GENIUS that he is, has sure not had the midas touch with SIRIUS so far. I fear that XM, which is the superior product of the two, will become the stepchild here. I have both, and really 90% of the time prefer the XM content. If this new company thinks that they can make XM a Sirius lite service they will go belly-up sooner than later. These mergers are most always a slap in the face to somebody. Mel… a-hole in a suit. If O&A go… so will many, I bet that in a heartbeat!
Kerry is disgusting.
$4.50 gas, kids dying in a made-up war, the market in turmoil, jobs tanking, people going sick without insurances yet he has the time to thrice lobby the FCC for something fully out of his arena and jurisdication…. why?
Nab Money. Pure and simple!
Ask the Senators how much they received from the NAB over the last three years. These Senators are pond-scum on a good day.
The best Government your Money can buy!
I will cancel right away if O&A are let go.. Goodbye Xm. I would want to stay if they kept ron and fez, but the whole reason I got Xm was for opie and anthony. And I think the reason for R&F being at xm is because of O&A. I’m sure they had a huge part of bringing them there. I am done thou. And a lot of people will be done as well. Almost ALL the O&A listeners will be canceling, if ron and fez are dropped, all of those fans will be canceling as well. Also, what will happen to the popular UNMASKED show??? GOOD LUCK SIRIUS! Mel remember ViaCon SH*TDI*K
I didn’t buy XM for O&A as they weren’t even on when I got it but they are the reason I have constantly renewed and listen all day- even to the replays. No More. If O&A are gone, bye bye satellite radio. I love Ron & Fez but not enough to go against the principle. We are only a year away from having internet radio in our cars anyway so why not just listen to KROCK?!!! Mel will ruin Satellite radio the way he did Infinity Broadcasting which has led to the problems CBS radio is having now. A true businessman would see that O&A are profitible and the best in the business if he would get out from under Howie’s desk and wipe the jizz from his eyes.
I got XM for free for 3 months when I bought my new car earlier last year. O&A are the reason I paid for a subscription after the free trial and if they are dropped, I will drop XM and just plug in the iPod to my car stereo.
I also have Sirius and used to be a big Stern fan but now more of an O&A fan. Stern has two more years left on his deal. After that, I think he will quit or seriously cut back his already ridiculously short work schedule.
I think Mel needs O&A to be set up as Stern’s replacement. After the merger, look for Stern to play nice with O&A on Mel’s orders. Mel will have two years to promote O&A to Stern fans so those fans won’t leave in mass after Stern retires.
I agree I got mine with a new car also but have kept renewal up for 3 years now just for O and A there is nothing like them and please dont try and give me Howie that damn sure wont work.
They better be careful how they do this. I will miss it but it will go bye bye if they do.
If they drop O+A Im gone. I was listening to a lot of the music stations until I got an itouch, and discovered the endless amount of really great podcasts that I can get for free.
ESD noon to 3!

i got a 60 gig mp3 player and napster to go.
when o&a get shafted i’m gone.
i’ve been with xm since feb ‘02 first it was musiclab now this.
frrrrrrrrrrrrrrunkusssssssssssssssssss
Frrrrrrunkis indeed, my friend, frrrrrrunkis indeed.
Who the hell said O&A were being let go? Did they say something about it on the show that I missed? You people must be insane. Stern has two years left on his contract, and Mel has already said they won’t bring him back by renewing at the same rate. If you think Stern will come back for less money, you’re all as stupid as you sound on this board. How’d you find Crunchgear, anyways?
That leaves the legions of loyal O&A fans to fill his spot. If you think the head of a publicly traded company is so criminally stupid to alienate your fan base…well, that’s your prerogative (that means choice). But satellite radio isn’t the government, its the private sector, where incompetence isn’t rewarded. Bad business decisions result in termination, and he’s made it pretty far. Oh, and he orchestrated a merger between two companies which PROMISED IN THEIR CHARTER THEY WOULD NEVER ATTEMPT. Yeah, real stupid man. It makes better business sense to keep O&A than it does to keep Howard. Think real hard about it, and when it still doesn’t come to you, start looking at number.
The one thing Sirius/XM may change is O&A’s syndication over public airwaves. I personally think its a ridiculous policy, but if the revenue stream is there, they’ll probably keep it in the short term.
In case you missed it, you know, in the story this thing referenced, it was XM which “forgot” to pay O&A. Not Sirius. Again, the last thing Sirius wants to do is alienate a passionate fan base. They hopefully learned a lesson when XM suspending O&A. Hell, Sirius has a better track record for treating their “shock jocks” well. O&A should be ecstatic. But go ahead and keep threatening to cancel your subscriptions. Doing so will leave the rest of us paying customers in better company.
Ron And Fez, noon to three. Before, Now, Forever
Relax XMers. We love our O & A show but you true fans must know what publicity geniuses they are by now. They’re making sure their fans get whipped up in to a frenzy, enough to contact XM and threaten to cancel if they are gotten rid of and to make sure they get the Big Money. It’s job security insurance and I am definitely sending my threat to cancel to help this cause and to preserve the Ron & Fez show as well. Mel & Co. must know Stern fans are a dieing breed. Luckily Sirius has been stupid enough to NOT promote Stern to any new or younger demographics so Stern fans continue to dwindle. Hopefully Stern-free airwaves are in our futures and we won’t have to be exposed to his borrrrrring, old man humor/dribble ever again. To his credit, I’m sure Stern knows he’s losing (has lost) his momentum and will retire “On top” as I’m sure he’ll proclaim. Everybody should send their outcry to maintain O & A and Ron & Fez to: XM Satellite Radio 1500 Eckington Place NE, Washington, DC 20002. What would our days be like without O & A and the comedic genius, Ron Bennington-RON & FEZ, NOON TO 3 ?! Write in to ensure we never have to find out.
Geez, 0&0 fans are even more delusional than I thought. they had the chance to fill Howard’s shoes and take all his listeners and they FAILED miserably. That’s the reason for CBS Radio’s problems, the void left when Howard Stern left them high and dry and floundering. They lose stations faster than HVACthony loses weight. Pretty soon , there won’t be anything left of either. Xm charging extra for 0&0 was a flop, the hundreds of cancellations in protest was a flop. They lost Syracuse yesterday, on the edge of losing The Edge in Buffalo.
Besides Howard still killing them, Bubba the Love Sponge has twice the listeners, not to mention that he is #1 in both FM markets he’s in. How many #1’s do the bbboys have? they pale in comparison, pun intended. Plus, they split their XM show and watered it down to be flavorless for FM. Bubba does 2 separate shows, giving both audiences great content. Even Ferrall has more listeners than 0&0. If they manage to keep their careers alive until the companies merge and then merge programming, they’ll be lucky to get a slot on Sirius Stars, alongside Jay Thomas, Dee Snyder and Richard Simmons. Actually those names are big in comparison…
If these guys were the huge talents you think they are, the Virus would be kept intact, but even their biggest pppests are hoping for a chance to munty up on Stern’s bunghole. Sad, really…
