Several shoe companies that produce high dollar dress shoes that do not have metal shanks in their soles and are, supposedly, "airport friendly."

Yet, you still have to take them off.

Go into any of those travel goods stores and you'll see "TSA approved" locks.

Yet, you put on of those on a suitcase and they'll still be popped off with a crowbar.

So what's going to happen here? You get to the head of the line at Des Moines airport and some power-mad TSA person glares at you and then suddenly lightens up and cheers, "You have the Targus XJ29 Airport Safe Laptop Bag! Well, come on in!"

Not likely. This won't amount to much. Just an opportunity to charge more for a bag that still won't get you through the line any quicker.

I'd love to leave my laptop in a bag each time I fly. Every single time I've gone through security and taken my laptop out, the airport security people drop it and/or bang it around.

London Heathrow airport recently introduced a policy where you no longer have to take your laptop out of the bag. I guess it has to do with the ability of the x-ray machines.

"checkpoint safe laptop cases"

In other words - a laptop case that only a thief would love. Why don't we all just put a flashing blue light with a sign on top that says "Steal Me!" why we are at it?

I don't understand why, with x-ray machines, we have to take our laptops out. Why is it TSA-unfriendly?
