Danny over at Wired managed to wrangle himself a first gen iPhone with iP3G software installed, which is pretty exciting, but it’s actually pretty ho-hum. Maybe a few of these things weren’t known, but they’re not at all surprising. When using the camera it prompts the user to allow for geo tagging. Eh. Location based services can be turned on and off. You can now search for contacts rather than flicking through as well as tagging them with keywords. Pretty sure James will like this. Push e-mail is here! Duh. Fetch those all important messages every 15, 30 or 60 minutes. You can also manually adjust if you’re that enthused by e-mails from your boss at all hours. My interest is dwindling.

I can’t wait to get mine friday
Why does our resident iphone hater write all the iphone posts?
sounds like sour grapes to me :)
When will the iPhone 3G be released in Asia ?
I’m looking forward to get mine too…
Lame review.. nothing about the built in GPS, the apps store or enterprise support is major.. Who wants a fricken lame Microsoft mobile or crackberry.. I love my iphone with enterprise (so much better then the Microsoft or Blackberry), looking forward to the new 3G
So Wired.. If you are going to write a review, write one, not a lame (Ho-Hum) comment!
The actual OS isn’t see very many changes, what is going to make the huge difference are all the applications that are going to be available in the App Store (many of them for free). This is why the iPhone 2.0 is going to be huge, it’s finally easy for cell phone users to get apps on their phone and the apps are good.
Can someone clarify this for me? Is push e-mail supported or just timed retrieval? I know that Steve mentioned push e-mail, but the post mentioned retrieving e-mails at intervals, which is not push in my book.
Tim-
The new OS will do push along with timed intervals like the current iPhone.
what a negative guy. we already knew the big change about the iPhone 3G is obviously the 3G.
Start Saving for the 3G… Looks Good…
