I just got my canon rebel XSI yesterday and I am having troubles with close up shots, it focuses behind anything close up. I just started photography and was curious of how to fix the focus for clear close-up shots.

I went into the retail store thinking I'd end up with an XSI or 40D. I bought the d60 instead because I liked how it felt, but after about 3 weeks of owning it I wish I had purchased a d90 or at minimum a d80.

You can get the XSI + 2 IS lenses within $100-150 of the D60 + 2 VR lense price. I recommend people get their hands on both and if they can borrow before they buy do that.

Thanks for the review on these two cameras. I really appreciate hearing a non-biased review. I am currently considering stepping up my camera from a Canon Powershot A540 to either a Nikon D60 or a Canon XS. I really enjoy taking a wide variety of landscapes and would like to improve the quality and the size of my pictures and can't seem to decide which way to go. Both have benefits but the image stabilization that the Nikon D60 offers is tempting. If I drink too much coffee that could come in handy.

I use the rebel xsi and I love it. No regrets about buying it other than the price dropped $100 two days after. But I guess that happens.

I have had an XSI for a month or two. I'm not a regular Joe, if I where, I'd buy a point and shoot for half the money.

I wanted something that had way more flexibility than I have with my Canon point and shoot.

I do use the many modes on the XSI, and I appreciate the fact the almost anything I want is only one click away on the user interface. Extremly well thought out and intuitive. You can quickly get the camera into a mode perfect for an unusual shot.
I have not seen the D60 yet as they were not available when I bought the XSI.
I use the Canon software to download, and organize the photos, just plug in the camera and everthing happens. For retouch and such I use Photoshop CS3.
