The point is the PS3 still isn’t selling as much as they would like even with the death of HD-DVD. But really, my mother won’t buy a PS3 to play Blu-Ray. Come to think of it I think she still has the original DVD player I bought her.

So Sony said “No” which means “Oh crap, do we have to do THAT to raise our sales?!” Which will then turn into “Probably not.” Then it will be “Surprise! We fooled you and now we’re dropping the price on the PS3 because…er…we wanted to!” They might even be saying no right now because they’re working on yet another SKU and don’t want to ruin the surprise.

So I think you CAN hold your breath on this one and they’ll give in before you do. That’s my professional opinion anyway.

Then it’s unfortunate that half the PS3s sold are being used purely for watching BluRay movies.
