True enough. I stood in line at the Apple store yesterday intending to get a black 16GB, and by the time I got up there they told us they only had the white. I looked at the white one up close and thought it was alright, so I got it.

I have a few complaints, though: although it doesn’t show smudges and scratches (so I hear) as well as the black ones, it does allow a little light to seep through the back of the case. It’s a little odd. My biggest gripe, though, is that it looks like the shell doesn’t fit correctly on the phone. There are cracks of light that appear between the screen and the chrome.

I got the white one too - i’m fine with it - i like it better than the old aluminum one -
black or white - not a big deal - gets whats available.

As far the othe poster saying light seeps through his phone - how can that be with all the componenents in that thing ??

It’s mostly on the edges of the back. It’s really noticeable in the dark.

Like I said, that’s not the part that bothers me. It’s the gap between the screen and the chrome that bothers me.

Hey, is the light seeping through about an inch long, next to the volume keys on the left hand side? Because I just bought one and have noticed this in the dark, I have the black one however, so no light seeping through back.

The bit that seeps through the chrome/glass looks like it is caused by whatever material is between has been bent a little, on closer inspection there is also a little bend underneath the headphone jack and beneath the on button so must have something to do with volume keys. No light seeps through headphone/on button however as I guess they are too far away from the back light.

i ordered my iphone 3g friday morning at around 9am. the lady on the phone told me they had plenty of stock and will recieve it sat morn. at around 3pm i got an e-mail telling me that the phone is on backorder. i’m very upset they lied to me. they wont even tell how long you have to wait for the phone. they even took the money out of my account and i have no phone!

I ordered BLK 16gb after the AT&T store ran out of 16gigs. It went on backorder Sat. came off backorder today, but the freight went on backorder. I talked w/ AT&T and the guy said there is a surplus of whities +1600 in stock but the BLK’s are running at least -2200 in stock and a possible shipment of 11,000 coming in. I don’t know if those numbers are for specific areas or the whole country. AT&T said accounts would be charged for the phone upon shipment, I also heard there have been a few cancellations of orders only 11-12 according to the guy I talked to.

I ordered Iphone 3g in Black 16Gb from AT&T.

Annoying thing is I ordered Monday 14th July, and its Thursday 24th July, they told me 5-7 days and I still havn’t recieved mine.

They said the wait may be 10-21 days now! And annoyingly my local Apple store has all three models in stock! I could walk down there now wait in line for an hour and have an iphone!
