Asus’s Eee PC 1000 has only been available in the U.S. for a few days now and newegg.com has already dropped the price from $599 to $549. A quick Google shopping search shows a few other sites offering prices less than $599, but most still have the mini notebook listed at $699.
Thanks Mobile Stylus, for the tip.

This price drop is because it has a regular hard drive in it. it was never suppose to be 650. the version that is suppose to be 650 is the solid state drive version. The solid state drive version should be 650 and the standard hard drive 550 reflecting the build cost difference.

They have been in stock/out of stock at Newegg for the last 10 days… They were supposed to be back in stock today, but weren’t on the site when I checked at 10AM. By the next time I checked, at 11AM, they were sold out! Grrrrr.
So either they never got the expected stock and now have no ETA, or they sold what they had within that hour.

Best Buy messed me over.. had an ACER Aspire One.. new on EBAY. went down after 3 weeks. told I had to take it to Best Buy. Sent it off for a month.. then found out they no longer carried it. so they gave me a new ASUS EEEPC 1000HD.. but this one has a dumb Celeron processor.. it does has a 120GB HDD.. battery life is far better then the ACER Aspire One.. seems to go nearly 3 hrs. Does not handle video or graphics as well as the Aspire. came with 1GB Ram.. so may go on an upgrade the ram if I can. looks like that may be easier then on the Aspire… that one seemed to be a daunting procedure.
Anyone have this same model. Oh. it is Black and is wider then the Aspire by at least an Inch.
