New York law targets video game violence

Details are scarce right now, but New York’s Governor David Patterson just signed a bill into law that could lead to restrictions in video game violence. Good to see that with the worldwide economy collapsing around us New York’s governor is fighting for what New Yorkers are really concerned about.
The law would create some sort of video game violence board, and would require content ratings on console, as well as large, clearly visible displays on game packaging. You know, like we already have.
Similar proposals have been tried in other states (remember that Indian one?), only to be thrown out in court. With that in mind, it’s best not to freak out too much.
It does make you wonder what Albany is doing all day, though.

There is no cure seeing as most of the murders and killings are done by people who can buy WEAPONRY (i.e. not little Timmy playing GTA4)

It’s ok not to freak out about the fear that video games will somehow limited, but it is perfectly alright to freak out about state representatives wasting their time on this kind of crap. I suppose it’s to be expected that the Governor would sign it (political risk for no gain vetoing something like that when it would just be overridden) but NYers should at least all their senators.
