Rumor: Apple coming out with ‘MacBook Touch’

So says MDN’s source,
Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured Multi-Touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion’s haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at “low” price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick shit. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest.

Touch laptops are the obvious next step. And it looks like Apple beat Windows to the punch once again. I would pick one of these up in a heartbeat as long as they don’t make it too big. I want a 7-10″ size factor. Great for checking emails/surfing while watching TV, or while taking a fatty dump =)

This is certainly inevitable, and exactly why I picked up a lot of Apple stock after I got my iPhone in February. I’ve been an Apple skeptic for the last 10-15 years, but after picking up and using the iPhone, I got a glimpse of a 12″ multitouch notebook with all these features and the incredibly intuitive interface, and I was converted.
If I can be converted to Apple, anyone can. And my next notebook purchase will be a multitouch macbook, whether that comes out this autumn or next.

@AlexNC: microsoft has been showing off its next gen, touchscreen windows 7 platform/vista and the 10k touchscreen tables at meetings; apple has done the same with iphone os multi touch technology. microsoft isnt in the business of making computers (dell, hp, acer, apple) the bulk of their sales is from businesses (office suite, windows mobile pda) and now the mp3 and 10k tables and games console. they are beginning to manufacture actual bodies for every field except pcs. but microsoft is late to the manufacturing bus. since apple dominates that field with innovation.
1. price is gonna go in the 1500-2000. itll probably have the same thin design as the air which costs 1800 dollars. this new laptop will have touchscreen which is more expensive. apple isnt gonna sacrifice price with low budget hardware so say goodbye to low budget macbook touch. ppl will complain that it doesnt have a real keyboard and ssd is too expensive. the price makes me sad but im still happy for apple fans.
