Fast charge electric car… for about a quarter million dollars

Lightning Car Company (LCC), unveiled the Lightning GT at the ongoing British Motor Show this week. Capable of 0 to 60 MPH in just four seconds, the speedster is powered by a 120 kW electric hub motor attached to each 20” wheel. The whole package provides over 700 HP.

As interest in electric cars (once again) heats up, a common concern surrounds the most mundane of tasks: How long does it take to recharge? Many electric cars will need to be plugged in overnight, but the Lightning GT promises to charge the battery to 80% in just 2 or 3 minutes. The catch? You need three-phase industrial power.

The concept of use might not be as far-fetched as you might image. The company visualizes a future where recharging could be done at any large retail establishment that utilizes industrial power.

Oh and that price tag? About $239,000 USD. Maybe by the time the recharging stations get set up the price will come down a bit.
