Watchmen games: please forgive my skepticism
by Devin Coldewey on July 24, 2008

So it’s gonna be a game. Okay, leaving aside the entire point and purpose of the Watchmen books (the moral ambiguity and hubris of the heroes), I guess it might actually be cool to play Rorschach on some mad, murderous, MacGuyverish rampage. Maybe they’ll have a combination system a la MDK 2’s scientist levels. “Combine match with hairspray. Combine harpoon gun with policeman.”

They’ve opted for a shorter, download-based system, which is all right with me; the comic books were episodic by nature and perhaps we can consider the games “extra issues” only tangentially related to the main story. There’s no way the actual story could translate to a game and I’m glad they’ve recognized that.
