Journey, the “band,” has a 1GB MP3 player out there, brought to you by the fine folks at ZVUE. It comes with 11 brand new songs from the album Revelation and 11 re-recorded songs.
A neat venture, but one we’d like to see with a good band, like My Chemical Romance.

Please tell me you’re joking about My Chemical Romance. You have to be. It wouldn’t make any sense for that to be a serious sentence.
The thing is, as soon as you explain a joke it’s no longer funny, hint hint.
Its ok, I know you were serious (deep down inside) but frankly I am holding out for one of these bad boys loaded up with Ace of Base (you know something slightly more current than Journey)
My former school once featured Eight of Bass, 8 bass players doing Ace of Base covers… Truly epic.
I imagine this is what Neal Schon was thinking: “Let’s put the music out on a device that looks EXACTLY LIKE an ipod – only isn’t so we don’t have to pay STEVE (Jobs….not Perry, in this case).”
They can then use the extra cash to clone another singer in case the current one explodes. oh wait, that’s Spinal Tap. Sorry.
Can the re-records be erased?
Definetly a novel way to brand your band and sell your music. I can’t wait to see what other artists will start doing along similar lines. Evan as promo items for big companies there is merit in this idea.
