Steelseries acquires Ideazon; bigger, better accessories forthcoming

Steelseries, the pro gaming gear guys who put out (among other things) the 7G Keyboard and the Ikari Laser Mouse, have bought Ideazon, the peripheral maker best known for making the Zboard, a skinnable, customizable gaming keyboard.

As an avid consumer of such accessories and peripherals, I’m glad this is happening; I know the 7G was intended to be just as straightforward as it was, but maybe a little zazz thrown in from the Ideazon side might have made it pop a little more. I’ll stay in contact with them and see what kind of new gear they come up with.

  • Hmm, this could be very cool or very bad. I’m hoping that the latter is just a big fear since I own a ZBoard, not a fan of the Ideazon mouse I bought though… so who knows.

    • I’m guessing they’ll keep supporting the zboard for now, but likely SteelSeries will make it their own and put out a new one later this year. You’re probably okay… Ideazon has built a brand and Steelseries will want to keep it.

  • So far I’m really unimpressed with the buyout. I’ve been trying for over a week to get support for a problem with my zengine and can’t get anyone to get in touch with me. My zboard is now a paperweight. Tres uncool.

  • The Customer service is still bad. Avoid ordering directly from SteelSeries. It was much better before the buyout.

  • I can’t even find any way to get in touch with customer service. They had a new update to their software and now it doesn’t work properly anymore. Really annoying.
