A follow-up to yesterday’s “What of O&A?” post, Sirius XM Radio CEO Mel Karmazin is slated to appear on the show during the 9am hour today.
Opie and Anthony fans know that Karmazin has always been a “Howard Stern guy,” so this should make for good radio. Karmazin is similarly scheduled to be on Howard Stern, if you’re so inclined to seek out that audio.
And to the paranoid fans: if O&A were as vital to XM’s success as we’ve been led to believe, why wouldn’t Karmazin renew their contracts? Surely personal bad blood shouldn’t get in the way of maximizing shareholder value, right?

I am not a “Pest” persay but I will say O&A are the reason I bought 25 people that work for me subs. No O&A I will cancel all the subs as they can go back to regular radio.

Success? What success? XM has add terrible success since Stern moved from FM to Sirius. You make it seem like XM was a strong company. NEWS FLASH they just got bought out. Also O&A fell on their faces when they got nationally syndicated and bombed on multiple FM stations just like Mancow. XM fans will finally relize what good radio is when they get Howard 100 and 101. Your suffering is over, as for O&A - Fire em!

I think that OnA are meeting with Karm is a good sign. They have been very successful with highest listened to channel(according to Elo) on XM. They are now #1 in NY with their demo and the new ratings system.
XM still had way more subscriptions and a way better stock before and after Stern arrived. Yet, Sirius just has more money(with would explain why they could sign Stern and other mediocre people to huge contracts) and that is why they bought out XM.
Basically, the previous poster has no idea whats going on. Not really surprising seeing as he finds Stern funny.
Have you ever listened to O & A? They are sooo not interesting or funny. everything is forced or canned. I believe they are still around because they are the only “Howard type” entertainment on XM which at best is a very pale version. They would be the first show to let expire ESPECIALLY with the merger now approved.
Is Opie and Anthony still on the radio? They were like listening to some lame college radio station trying to be funny with their “wacky” humor. Howard gets all the great guests and still has awesome live musical guests.

Howard is the man. Pure and simple. Either you have him or you have something that wants to be him. they can just cancel all the XM stations anyways. XM stations have always sucked.

next keep the Sirius stations and give up 4% XM bandwidth to special interest. because there is nothing good on XM anyways.

You guys are all 12 years old. There are good and bads to both. Howard is not nearly as funny as O&A but Howard does get better acts to come on his show. Who gives a crap who you think is better? Both will be on in the new company. If not, Mel would not have come on the show and wasted his time with O&A. Sirius needs all the original material they can get. Ipods are killing them. Internet radio is killing them. They can not keep going with just music. So O&A and Howard will both be in the new company. Hopefully they find a spot for Ron and Fez, Ron is funnier than all the aformentioned losers. (I hope aformentioned is a word… It sounded good at the time.)

Cindy Sheehan, Anthony and Bloated Gollum are one joke hacks and will not last under Mel. Ron and Fez is a much better show and should be the feature on the channel. Cindy and his child bride can go back to DJing classic rock in nowhere ny. AHAAA

Wow, it is hard to believe that there are any Stern fans able to post to the internet. They must have their grandchildren helping use this high-tech thing we call the internet. Stern is ancient and so is anyone still listening to his “radio program”. I’ll admit, back in the 80’s and early 90’s, I watched stern on E and enjoyed him, but just like parachute pants and the rubiks cube, things go out of style and get old. OandA are original, funny, and intelligent. They cover it all from politics, current news, to dick jokes. XM has always been the stronger company, both with subs, content, EPS, and stock strength. The ONLY reason Sirius was able to pull this off is because they were more liquid (for Stern fans, that means they had more cash). OandA are one of the main reasons XM’s subs were so strong. If they go post-merger, so do I.
Ron and Fez are the best thing going… They can do whatever they want with XM just keep Ron and Fez and Unmasked with the great Ronny B.

For O&A fans, numbers are the bottom line, Who generates more advertising revenue? answer; Howard, Who has more listeners? answer; Howard (look it up on Arbitron), who is paid more? answer; Howard (O&A will never make close to Howards salary in their lifetime) and another thing O&A better not ever show their faces around Bubba The Love Sponge, cause he wants to smack them around for what they have said about Howard’s girl (Beth O) and Howard’s kids.
I am willing to bet that O&A will be walking a straight line and not talking crap about Howard now they are working for Sirius. Oh Yeh, I found this article because I have Howard Stern on my google alerts list and since Howard is mentioned in the article it came to my inbox.

the ron and fez show is the funniest radio show ever! it grows on you…give it a week or so and you will be totally hooked on those guys
Get these balls! Howard Stern fans! It’s June 2009 and nobody got fired. Howard however wins the f***ing lottery every day, and it doesn’t matter how much his show sucks. Ron and Fez should however, should get WAY more credit than they do. Once you start listening, you just can’t stop. Sometimes it is a very intelligent show, and sometimes they appeals to the lowest common denominator, e.g. dick jokes. Bottom line, Ron and Fez show is good entertainment because of the genius of Ron Bennington.
