According to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, Nintendo has a handheld gaming device in the works ready for launch by year’s end.
“We think that the timing of a new product introduction will depend upon the sales profile for the DS, and believe that lower than expected DS hardware sales could trigger an earlier launch for the new device,” Pachter said in an investor note.
“DS sales are solid worldwide, but are weak in Japan, leading us to expect an introduction of a new device in Japan before the end of the calendar year.”
He said that Japanese DS demand will likely continue to decline. He adds, “We think that Nintendo has a new handheld device ready for launch in [Japan] before the end of the calendar year.”
What new wonders might this handheld from Nintendo hold?

I was gonna be a fanboy and yell out “Nintenphone” but then I saw the picture of the 2 girls and instantly became a man. Thanks Crunchgear for making me grow up.

how about they have it look pretty much the same with the rectangular look but they add a camera and have built in memory(not memory cards cause that’d be a hard thing to sell to parents since they have to buy one themselves for their cams, phones, whatever). then with the camera you could do more out-of-the-box like draw on pictures and make dumb little speech-bubbles. upgrade the graphics engines and make the screen a bit more sensitive. add a built in accelerometer(sounds like ipod, i know but they had wariokart or something for ds and you had to add a cartridge). make the top screen scratch-resistant.
if they wanted it to appeal to adults they could do all that and add bluetooth and make micro-SD sleeves so it could go into the DS.
i’ve owned a DS but i sold it to buy an ipod touch

False. Hate to break it to ya but the next Nintendo item is the DSi which is an upgraded version of the DS. Nintendo always does this with their handhelds, they upgrade the old one before coming out with a new one.
