Blizzard, the do-no-wrong developer of World of Warcraft and Diablo would like you to know that it’s already “heavily” into the development of Diablo III. The game is still without a release date, mind you.
In related news, Blizzard is also fully committed to the new art style found in Diablo III, which has been derided by 53,335 people (so far) for being too WoW-like. They went Diablo III to be more like he previous installments—dark and moody, full of supernatural mystique. Something to that effect. Be that as it may, Blizzard has no intentions of changing the game’s art direction.
Love it or leave it, in other words. When good ol’ Devin wakes up, we’ll get his take on this, being that he’s the resident Diablo guy.
Update by Devin: Looks fine to me, dude. And to be honest I really don’t see the WoW thing except in the exaggerated shapes. These people are getting worked up over a pretty minor (and subjective) artistic qualm.

For those of us who think it’s a bit dumb to whine about the artwork, there is a counter-petition:

Signed! I am perfectly fine with the way this game looks. I’ve played both of the old ones and had a lot of fun. Now I want something new and that is exactly what they are delivering. Bring it on Blizzard. I can’t wait!
There’s also a follow-up article here that has designer responses from fan altered screenshots:

Blizzard as a whole is laughing at the petitions, I guarantee it. Go ahead and tell them that their game cant look like that, let them start all over from scratch too. Good idea internet!
Blizzard has committed Corporate sudoku on the Diablo franchise!! Unless they correct the error of their ways the fans will know no unrest.
;)
Corporate sudoku? they play sudoku with all their board members?
I believe you mean seppuku…
You should probably watch this video, Dragutin. Then you’ll get the joke. http://www.crunchgear.com/2008/07/15/final-fantasy-xiii-nerd-reaction/
