DISH announced today a net loss of 25,000 customers. The company blamed the loss of subscribers on a combination of economic factors and stiffening competition. Wall Street reacted unfavorably, sending the shares down in early trading. The stock price made up lost ground as the day went on.
Craig Moffett, analyst at Bernstein Research, said:
This is not pretty. It’s the first ever loss of subscribers by a major satellite TV company.
In spite of the shrinking customer base, DISH managed to beat Wall Street expectations with higher than expected second quarter profits.

I will tell you why they are losing my buisness. My satalite kept losing the signal for week`s upon end. I called and got the same old run around try this try that blah blah blah from a person from another country that I could barley understand.
Finally they dispatched a “tech” luckly it was a weekend they wanted me to take of a work day. Sir do you want the 8 to 12 or the 12 to 4. If you can not pinpoint a apointment in less than a 4 hr period something neds to be changed. If this was a work day than you would have to take of the whole day anyhow so that is 8 to 10 hrs of lost pay.It worked for 1 week so I caled back same run around as before. This only tok 2 weks for a tech to show up. Meanwhile I was paying for top 300 when I could only get maybe 8 stations. Sir we wil make a adjustment, yea right just like you did last time took some off
last bill and then the next month put what they took off and doubled my bill. Then they wanted to charge me for a service call to fix there faulty equipment. Ive been with dish network for 13+ yrs but im starting to walk a litle funny from geting the shaft.
Cancelling the VOOM channels was a super mistake. Bring them back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also canceled Dish Network. These were the reasons why…
1) They keep raising prices (not much different than cable now)
2) They REQUIRE you to keep your receiver connected to a land-line or they charge you more money each month. I got rid of my land-line telephone line because I don’t need it.
3) I live in Florida and we have rain showers almost every day during the summer and the signal is lost when it rains hard (almost every day). My friends down here with Dish have the same problem… they are canceling Dish also after their contracts expire.
4) Local FREE Digital TV signals are now available and I now receive 31 local channels for free!!! No reason to pay $48 a month anymore.
5) Their “tech” support is based in India. I could barely understand them with their thick accent.
