Instead of having to sacrifice file size for file quantity, or have to carry multiple memory cards, this device is awesome. I have dropped it on cement, in the sand, in the house, pretty much everywhere except water and it's still working great. The display doesn't do so well in bright sunlight and it didn't show tiff files, but I'm pretty sure those things have been rectified since I bought mine in 05.
