T-Mobile shuts down Texas phone traffickers
by Teresa von Fuchs on August 6, 2008

T-Mobile USA announced that it has obtained two permanent injunctions against handset resellers, whose practices it said “can be harmful and misleading to consumers.” Both cases were in Texas, one in Houston against Rafiq Wazir Ali, who also used the business name Fone Xchange, the other in Dallas against ASPAC and its affiliates.

The carrier said the ‘traffickers’ buy subsidized handsets for T-Mobile’s prepaid services and then resell them to customers at full price, pocketing the subsidies. Along with pocketing the subsidies, traffickers also discard the phones warranties and manuals!
