My 10-year-old!
Somehow the Pokemon franchise has been self-perpetuating.
A new generation of kids are exposed to:
a new TV series (Pokemon Diamond and Pearl), new toys, and new fast food tie-ins (a couple weeks ago Burger King was Pokemon cards with its kids' meals).

Nintendo itself has 4 or 5 Pokemon DS games in its current catalog ...

My 6 yr old son and all his friends in NC.
- Mostly into the BeanieBaby-sized stuffed animals.
- Has been begging for a DS. This would be perfect :)
My 21 yr old step-son and all his friends in NYC.
- Mostly into the GameBoy games.
My 16 yr old nephew just gave most of his collection to my youngest.
- Mostly into the Trading Cards.

The Pokemon franchise is still going strong. Has a section at Walmart/Target as big as Ben10, Bakugan, Batman, and others.
