Yes, Nikon was late to the full frame table, but they have been doing pro-level DSLRs longer than Canon has. I was using an Associated Press NC2000e (based on a Nikon body) that cost $15,000 in 1997, was 1.3 megapixels and had horrible white balance. Not to mention proprietary disc drives. But the first assignment I did with it (the crowning of Miss Missouri), where I shot the picture, and it was on the front page of the paper in less than 20 minutes, I knew it was the future of news photography.</description>
