$360, a providential number for things that spin! AmpedBikes offers a cheap and relatively easy way to mod your bike (any bike with 26″ wheels) into a battery-powered two-wheeled killing machine. I mean rolling machine. Check out the installation video; it looks like you’ll need some basic bike know-how and you have to provide your own batteries, but it’s way cheaper than many alternatives. I didn’t see two key selling points. Stopping and hills.
Yeah hills are what I wanted to see too. All in all that video left a lot to be desired and didn’t inspire me to even try this, ever!
The lithium Ion battery will easily double your expense but the brushless motors can run underwater for 6 days (36v 500w).
rim, front or rear, incl.
Great stuff. Basically a commuter bicycle. I have one of their old models I still ride it to work about 3-4 days a week.
It gets me outside, I smell the trees etc and I save between $4k and $5k a year on gas.
Hi, I also ride an ampedbike.
I use it to commute to and from work a couple times a week. (some days im grumpy lol)
I have yet to calculate the savings. But I lost 30 lbs lol
Wow, that Ampedbike sounds pretty amazing. I’d love to find a way to get to work while saving lots of money and not having to pedal AND lose 30 lbs. in the process! Maybe for the latter point to happen, you have to run out of batteries frequently. ;)
Seriously, though, this looks very impressive, but I agree that I’d like to see a video or two that is a little more comprehensive on the performance, e.g. hills, stopping, starting, charging.
