Base-level Xbox 360 to feature motion controller?

Rumor!

The $199 Xbox 360 Arcade bundle that’s due around the holidays will be positioned towards families and casual gamers and, as such, will come with a motion controller.

The controller itself will apparently also be sold as a standalone controller for other versions of the Xbox 360 console. This rumor would directly correspond with the rumor from back in April that suggested some sort of motion apparatus would be released for the Xbox 360 around Christmas time.

If true, and if the controller actually works well, this could be a pretty spicy meatball for the Wii, as a $199 Xbox 360 would beat Nintendo’s still-hard-to-find offering by $50.

  • But it still isn’t a Wii and none of the 360’s games are designed specifically for the use of motion sensing controls like the Wii. Seems like a bad idea, like Sony adding motion sensing as a knee jerk reaction to the Wii…

  • A knee jerk reaction is a last minute and rushed attempt to copy the Wii…i.e. Sony. The xbox 360 has been slower and more subtle in shifting its console into the casual gaming market.

They have a strong stable of casual games inside of xbox live arcade. Some of these games dont make much use of the 360 controllers two thumbsticks, D-pad or 8 buttons (11 buttons if including start, back and xbox button)

A simple motion controller would be very useful in thesee circumstances. I am sure that game creators will find a creative way of using such a controller.
