Duracell: The first name in preventing kid rape

MSNBC discovered this odd commercial made by Duracell and Brickhouse Security, a New York-based security gadget company. While I’m totally down with keeping kids out of creepy white vans, I love the incongruity between the voice-over, the scene, and the suggestion that without Duracell, your kid is going to end up in some madman’s septic system.

When I saw this commercial on TV I was appalled, completely and utterly. The fear factor going on in this country stuns me. Granted, I don’t have kids, and I’m not going to have kids, but I’m stunned by how the psycho-industrial complex plays on the fears of parents. And their arrogance that somehow every madman wants their kid.

Yes, we all know it, it can be dangerous out there. But I really, really hate it when they try to scare you in a commercial just to get you to buy something. Playing like that with mom’s minds (I don’t have kids either, but I can imagine the fear they must feel) just to get some profit is really low.

Uh… all it was is that the crazy over protective mom has a tracker for her kid using the best batteries provided. So if you want batters for your kid tracking devices buy Duracell… that’s what i got out of it… I agree though, kind of a over the top commercial

Ah, that explains why the local Walgreens parking lot was filled with Escalades and Yukons…
Gotta luv the commercial success of Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt…
