This doesn’t seem practical at all, but Sony has pushed back the debut of Ian Fleming’s latest James Bond film Quantum of Solace because WB’s pushed back the new Harry Potter movie to 2009. Those of us in the US won’t see Bond in action until November 14. Whereas those in the UK will enjoy Bond’s latest exploits starting on the 29th of October.

Sony’s worldwide marketing chairman Jeff Blake had this to say,

“Harry Potter moving out gave us an opportunity to get a little closer to the holidays. Bond has a really good history of not only playing through Thanksgiving but going deep into the Christmas holidays.”

Unfortunately for Sony, we’ll just end up watching pirated versions here in the US. At least I will.
