Remember the other day we mentioned that Gearbox might be working on Halo 4? Here’s the quick and dirty to catch you up. Bungie will no longer be working on the Halo franchise and there’s no doubt that Halo 4 is coming at some point in the future. Gearbox Software was responsible for the PC Halo title Halo: Combat Evolved.
Here’s where it gets interesting, Gearbox head Randy Pitchford stating in February that he’d be directing the new project that’s really, awesomely big and now Gearbox’s Director of Platform Technology Corrinne Yu is leaving for the Halo team at MS. A purported internal e-mail was obtained by Kotaku that details Yu’s transition from Gearbox to Microsoft. We’re not sure what this means, but it certainly lends some fat to the rumor that Gearbox is working on H4.
Hello, friends.
I am Corrinne Yu, Director of Technology of Gearbox Software.
I was offered and recruited to the position of Principle (Lead) Engine Architect of Halo Franchise Team at Microsoft. I accepted the offer to lead the team to build the engines and games for future Halo’s on Xbox’es and PC’s at Microsoft.
I am staying to simu-ship Brothers In Arms all versions. I will start Halo after BiA starts manufacturing. Aliens: Colonial Marines and Borderlands are more than mostly completed. I assure you I will continue to help Gearbox. I am starting on Halo Team at Microsoft after 09/15/2008. My email after that day will be XXXX@microsoft.com.
I would be glad to introduce my friendly helpful Corrinne replacements at Gearbox to you. I am stoked to program and design and build some awesome Halo’s.
Let’s stay in touch!

Since Gearbox confirmed with Shacknews it makes me wonder if this letter is real considering Yu’s title is not Director of Technology. Either way they confirmed that Yu is leaving for MS, so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Halo will always be my favorite game, i hope its less realistick though this time around, kinda like Quake 3 arena, i realy like the game speed it brought, and if halo was a bit faster, it would be even more addictive
Well if you guys ask me, I think maybe that the first person should have more realism. like a shot in the foot shouldnt kill you.
I just hope halo 4 will be for real gamers this time, im sick of getting my ask kicked by little girls :p
wow i’m sorry you even get your ask kicked by little girls lol…loser. guess you suck at halo lol.
I hate the automatic aim in Halo 3! When Im shooting my BR at a target and another guy runs in front of me it automtatically tracks the other guy. Turning off auto aim doesnt correct this flaw.

dude is crazy realism is what u want in a game expecially the first person shooter genre where u play as a dude with a gun thru his eyes and yes it would be awsome to be shot in the foot and live
Foot Shots are epic and they arent instant kills in halo. a sniper shot could though…
What kind of hardware do you think Halo 4 is going to be running on?
I hope halo 4 works on Xbox 360. It will be real cool if it does. I think Halo 1 and halo 2 were awsome but halo 3 levels were a bit short plus it was kind of easy to play it. I think halo 4 should have loads of levels plus making it a bit harder
*Spoiler from Halo Wars*
Its a pretty strong suggestion, in the end of Halo Wars, the last mission is called “Shield World”
Yes Halo Wars takes place a few years before Halo: CE but when the crew of Spirit of Fire are in Cryo, they shouldnt really age. at least if anything not really quickly, and the Ship wasnt damaged so they hould be able to live for some time in Cryo.
A Bungie Employee had said the storyline of Halo 3 ends with Master Chief floating through space around a “Shield World” at the end of Halo Wars, Spirit of Fire floats near a planet that looks almost exactly like the one from Halo 3. Master Chief is in the back half of Forward unto Dawn, and the Spirit of Fire is missing its FTL Drive.
A FTL Drive would be stored near the Aft of a Ship so it can easily be hooked up to the Engines wouldnt it? so i think they will find a way to weave it together, with the Spirit of Fire coming across the Forward unto Dawn then taking the FTL drive from the aft portion to install onto the SoF.
chances are they will continue it on, the Flood are still alive, the rings are still out there, and there are Remnants of the Covenant left.
I won’t buy the the game if bungie isn’t making it. I mean like gearbox games has bad graphics. If halo3 ODST makes more money than halo 3, they’ll think twice.
