Samsung’s most advanced Blu-ray player announced today

Launching this October for $499.99 is Samsung’s BD-P2500 Blu-ray player and its most notable feature is probably BD Live otherwise known as BD Profile 2.0, but it’s also backwards compatible with Profile’s 1.1 and 1.0. 1GB of internal flash memory is onboard for BD Live content. It also features Hollywood Quality Video processing, Dolby Digital Plus and TrueHD decoding.

You’ll also be able to update the firmware this fall for dts-HD HR decoding compatibility along with any future updates from Samsung. There’s one HDMI version 1.3 output with CEC, one component output and composite output. Of course, there’s an Ethernet port and USB port along with one digital audio output and 7.1-channel analog audio outputs. The 24fps film mode should smooth things out for superior picture quality, too.
