We have here what appear to be some actual, big-boy shots of the impending T-Mobile HTC Dream. You know, the Android phone? As always, take these types of things with a grain of salt, although these photos do look pretty convincing. The shots were grabbed from a Chinese-language forum and sent to Engadget. My Chinese isn’t all that good, considering I’ve never been there, spoken the language, or learned to read the many and varied symbols. These photos should be worth a couple thousand words in any language, though.

  • That phone is ugly as hell. Hopefully they make some nicer looking phones to put that sweet OS on.

  • Gosh, i was waiting for this crap???? ;)

  • Why does every SMART phone like this have to use the inefficient QWERTY keyboard layout? It’s not very efficient when you have both hands on full size keyboard and it’s certainly much less effective on a phone.
People who normally use a flip phone grab my Blackberry and they suddenly can’t type. “Where are the keys?” Its happened too many times. They pick it up but can’t stop telling me how foreign it feels.
If that’s the case, where people can’t quickly transfer that skill from one device to another, why don’t designers just stick a DVORAK or one of the other efficient derivatives developed for people with only one hand on a phone and make everybody learn it? Should only take a few minutes from what I can tell.

  • I detest sliding phones: the extra thickness for a keyboard sucks; accidental slide-open in a wide pocket sucks and makes it a haven for cat hairs, pocket lint, cookie crumbs, and boogers; it’s overall inefficient and necessitates “landscape mode” for the screen in use; it adds to the phone size in use, even for quick text messaging. Also (if that’s the only color and material available for the phone) it’s butt-ugly.
