Bad news out of Sony today, as the company has issued a recall of many of its TZ-series notebook computers (see the full release here).

“Irregularly positioned wires near the computer’s hinge and/or a dislodged screw inside the hinge can cause a short circuit and overheating. This poses a burn hazard to consumers…

…Sony has received 15 reports of overheating, including one consumer who suffered a minor burn.”

The models being recalled are those in the VGN-TZ100, VGN-TZ200, VGN-TZ300, and VGN-TZ2000 series. These are the ultraportable Sony notebooks with 11.1-inch screens, similar to the one seen in the above photo.

Customers with the affected notebooks should stop using them immediately and contact Sony at (888) 526-6219 or use http://www.sony.com/support.
