I headed biz dev for an affluent lifestyle magazine and had daily deliveries by fed-ex and every other known overnight company. I gotta admit that in most cases I had to prove who I was, and if they did not know the magazine, I had to overnight a copy and my email was that of the magazine, something that could not be faked. PR people are cool and those are relationships that should not be abused. One thing to keep in mind, fraud and theft by deception for anything valued over $500 is a Felony and repeated theft this way shows a pattern of criminal activity. I think those PR firms and manufacturers that got screwed by this guy should call authorities and put an end to this type of scummy activity I can imagine someone being able to pull something like that off.
