Long-term costs for Mozy are only higher than the other options if you never have to replace a backup drive. Maybe I just have bad luck, but I'd end up replacing one of those backup drives within 2 years, making Mozy the best option.

You can <a href="http://www.onlinebackupsreview.com/mozy.php" rel="nofollow">save 10% off Mozy using a promotional code</a>

No offense intended but none of the above are backup devices. They are hard drives. They may do for non essential second copy ((but why would you take a second copy if the data wasn't important) or non essential data transport of data which is backed up somewhere else.

$100 is a lot to spend on a device which isn't designed as a backup device but simply as unprotected external storage.

Look into the 250gb model of the western digital scorpio blue. It is less than $100.

Personally, I would buy 2 of those, and just use an encasing and voila, I have a portable external drive, like the passport.

The LaCie ED Mini Home edition is a great drive. I have 4 in my office to get all of my files, pictures, and music accesible from anywhere on the planet.
Go LaCie

Setup is quite easy for the LaCie Ethernet disk mini, sweet installer over the network, 3 parameters to enter, and then remote and free access through http://www.homelacie.com portal.

I actually have the Western Digital MyBook (although it may be a first gen) and its works SO SLOW with my MacBook. So slow that I couldn't do anything else on my computer while my files were being saved and it took more than a day to save my files initially when I first got it. Worth noting...
