Apple announces iPhone 2.1 firmware

A lot of the bugs affecting iPhone owners have presumably been fixed with 2.1, but we won’t know for sure until we’ve all had some time with it. His Steveness has proclaimed that there will be fewer dropped calls, improved battery life, and backing up to iTunes will be a lot faster. It’s available this Friday for FREE. Unfortunately there’s nothing about the background app notifications, copy and paste or improved GPS functionality. Boo! Also, those supposed hidden features don’t seem to be anywhere either.

Any idea when “background app notifications, copy and paste, and improved GPS” will be available??? Any info/rumors/gossip/lies you know about?

Why is that I’m not surprised there is no word about copy/paste?

I’m not all that surprised.

Remember if you have a jailbroken or unlocked iPhone you shouldn’t upgrade right away. Wait to hear that it’s safe: http://www.iphone-hacks.com/2008/09/09/iphone-21-to-be-available-friday-september-12/
