Toshiba Dynabook SS RX2 claims the world’s lightest 12.1-inch laptop title

Toshiba first showed off the Dynabook RX1 in June ‘07 with a 64GB solid-state drive and the “lightest laptop with an optical drive” title. The latest gen, the SS RX2, retains the same claim to fame, but the lappy has been upgraded with 1.2GHz SU9300 ULV Core 2 Duo processor, 3 GB of Ram, built-in 3G wireless, all powered by a 12.5-hour battery. That’s right kiddies, a 3G laptop with a 12.5-hour battery for the ultimate road warrior laptop. I wish I could tell you if this super-laptop is coming here to the States, but it looks like the model is only slated for a Japanese release.

Update: I published the claim that the SS RX2 laptop was the lightest 12.1 optical drive-equipped laptop, but for got to mention the actual 858-grams or 1.89-pounds weight. Sorry ’bout that.
