Hey! I have a question. If anyone could help that’d be awesome.

Okay. I hate change. Change freaks me out. Whenever something different happens, my head explodes and I die a little inside. So here’s my question.
On the first gen iPod Touch, when you looked through your song list, all you saw were the titles of your songs. Is it the same way for the second gen, or is it like the newest one where it has the song, artist’s name and album. I know it’s ridiculous, and I’m okay with just about every other feature, I’m just so used to the way my first gen works. And trust me, I know it’s stupid. The only reason I want to get a newer one is for the apps. My mom got the newest one and it’s pretty rad. I’m always playing with the apps she has on it. And as much as I’ve searched, there’s no download or software update that can make a first gen Touch compatible for apps.
So is there anyone here that can let me know about the song list?

I have the 1st generation i pod touch but then my brother got the second generation. I was wondering is there any software you can download that allows you to get the app store onto the 1st generation? or will i have to buy the i pod touch all over again?

I have a question?

I have the 1st gen ipod touch… i love it, always using it, best peace of hardware I ever bought… there is something bothering me about it thought… cause i do use it a lot, while i’m listening to my music after a while, for some reason, my music cuts off and it goes back to the main screen. When I go back to listening music, it’ll last for a couple of minutes then cuts off again… It continues to do this even on a full battery life, until i can only get to the music menu before it cuts off again. When it does this i just leave it alone for a couple of days. It does end up fixing itself afterwords, but then it starts up again after a couple of weeks or so. It’s been happening for a few months now and I just thought it might be cause I do use it a whole lot.

So I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else or is it just mine? And if I should take it back and get it checked out or upgrade?

not worth the money at all…the outside speakers suck and theres no point for the volume buttons because the speakers are soo quiet…i call the new ipod touch a waste of money

If you paid full price I would go back and get the “new” one. If your Dad decides to use things like Calendar and other things that use alerts, or he just wants to share a song with friends momentarily or any of the other things that require a speaker he won’t have it. Some PDA features are basically useless without a speaker. I am thinking of upgrading my “old” version because I find it so annoying.

I have a itouch i think it’s the best thing i have; there’s no reason to get rid of the old and buy a new one. That’s a waste, besides i bet you they will come out with a new one and a new one after that. The main point [If you have an old don't buy a new WASTE OF MONEY]speaker??

I went to the Carphone Warehouse, asked for a ‘new’ iPod Touch (present for my Dad) and got home and wrapped it up. He then opened it, and I realised it is in fact the old iPod touch! Shall I go and exchange it or just upgrade the software on it to allow App Store access? Thanks everyone

I put my old ipod touch on ebay, sold it, and got the new one. Needed to upgrade to 16 gig anyway. I love this thing with the new built in speaker and the nike+iPod feature since I use my touch for exercising. The new touch is definitely worth it has a great feel too.

I upgraded from the 1st Gen 16 GB and love the new iPod touch. I wanted to upgrade to a 32 GB regardless, but the Genius feature and the longer battery life are already makin’ me a happy guy. I haven’t tried the Nike feature, but have never really been into exercise anyway, so…

didn’t you read the thing it says: UPDATE: Just plugged my first-gen Touch into iTunes 8 and there’s a new version 2.1 software update that adds Genius playlist creation to my device. So that’s not a noteworthy feature for the new iPod Touch after all.

I really don’t think people having the 1st gen iPod touch are going to rush to the Apple store to get a new one. This is just a marketing gimmick by Apple. All big companies do this – no big deal!

Actually, a very decent VOIP program called Truphone is available for the iPhone–through Apple’s App Store– for free! I’ve been using it for quite some time to call my mother while she was traveling in Europe. It would be cool if these new headphones allowed one to use Truphone on the Touch.

Not with the first generation. The headphone/microphone accessory for the new one, however, makes things interesting. It’s supposed to be for voice recording, but if Apple makes it easy to install and use a VOIP app on the new Touch, the Skype thing would become more of a reality.

However, the App Store software is generally programmed to work on both the iPhone and the iPod Touch and Apple doesn’t allow VOIP programs into the App Store because those programs, if used on the iPhone, could cut into AT&T’s business model. So it may be that we’d never see a VOIP app unless it was made just for the Touch. That, or it’d have to be done through a hack and a jailbroken Touch.

Don’t worry, dude… I’m gonna go out and buy an old ipod touch in the next couple of weeks. Why buy a new one? Why care? I don’t want any of what little updates they provided, and the old hardware will be probably 30% cheaper in a couple days.

While the two weeks refund period is their policy, Apple is widely known to help their customers out. If you take it to an Apple store with your receipt, I’m sure you’ll find that they’ll give you a credit or give you a new model.

Apple is aces when it comes to stuff like that.

I just bought the old ipod touch 3 weeks ago, they only allow refunds up to 2 weeks after delivery. I could have saved over 50 bucks. Very disappointing.
