Interesting. Well, I guess there is a difference between the old Touch and the new Touch — although Apple’s been mum about it. The chip iFixit found supports Bluetooth 2.1+EDR+FM. What do you think, people? Secret ripoff or secret surprise? Reminds me of the secret 3G in Dell Inspiron Minis.
[Thanks for the tip, Staguave!]

How does the new Nike+ communicate? Wouldn’t surprise me if it was bluetoothy. Then the new Nike+ pucks would work with the iPhone 3G as well, yes?

That’s pretty huge, especially if they enable the FM too.

Why is everyone so surprised by this? Adding Nike+ connectivity doesn’t just come for free — of course there was going to be an extra chip.
But if you think it’s going to run Bluetooth as well there’s a whole lot of red tape before you get to use that protocol, which is why Nike *doesn’t*.

Yea, this is the Nike+ reciever. This has been discussed on numerous blogs, it is a chip similar to bluetooth but it does not have bluetooth.
