The reason why they have those tabs is because they wanted to simplify it. Clearly none of your friends installed 80 billion applications like “Which Plant Are You?” or “Whose Your Favorite Member of 18th Century Parliament” which was slowing down your load time. Facebook profiles were getting to be huge, convoluted piles of bloat, and this allows that stuff to be hidden and out of the way.

The funny thing is most of the people label to those who prefer old facebook as “people hate change”. That is for me a very ignorant and cliche attitude. I am all for the the good chance, however, the new facebook isn’t it. I don’t see the point of introducing all those tabs tabs tabs, as some other very busy, fussy boxes. It’s just too fussy both technically and graphically that upset most people, or at least me. ‘NEW’ suppose to mean more user-friendly, but now it seems as though all the simplicity has gone. This is definitely not a thought-through designs and a clever move. All I can make sense of the move is to allow the company to squeeze in more ads on the layouts!

I never once complained that Facebook was too stale, chief. I’ve argued the exact opposite for some time now.

There are *plenty* of reasons to hate me, mister, but at least be accurate with your criticisms.

I do, however, approve of your use of the word “clownfaces,” as it reminds me of WWE’s Chris Jericho. Your use of “cohorts,” too, gets a thumbs up from me as it implies that all of us on staff like to plot and conspire against your vested interests.

I look forward to more baseless accusations from you and yours.

I think the new design is head over heals better than the old design. Instead of going to someone’s page and seeing tons of useless apps, you actually see what they’re up to and who they are first. Facebook has over 100m users and if a couple million (1-2%) dont like it, then oh well. I highly doubt Mark & crew will blink an eye over those who dont like it.

Yeah, and “where’s the shiny new?!?!?” clownfaces like, well, Nicholas Deleon and his cohorts at Crunchgear aren’t responsible for this sort of “progress”?

Facebook’s new design is fine, that said. Then again, the old one was alright, too. That the old one did its job (here’s your messages, here’s your friends, here’s your other shit) naturally meant that the 2.0 blogosphere had to gripe about it all being too stale and where’s the new stuff, etc…

It makes things look better. People just want to complain.

I hate it more when sites like flickr, youtube, or myspace for a long time…never go through a redesign.

You’re hurting yourself if you just stop innovating and stop redesigning to fit with current tastes and desired functions.

Quick question: why is some who “couldn’t give a damn what they do to it at this point” writing a entry on what they are doing to Facebook? Congrats on being an early adopter, for sure, but surely there must be someone out there who could shed some real light on this redesign.

I also prefer the new design, the annoying apps are on a seperate tab, the design is clean and easy to navigate.

All this news about 1,000,000+ are in “keep the old design” group I wonder how many of them have joined the group because someone invited them.

My friends and family who use facebook prefer the new design as well. Also I dont understand why people think it looks like MySpace… it doesn’t.

People would hate any design change. They’ll bitch for 3 weeks and then accept it. It’s the natural order of things.
