I understand what you are going through as a former hemorrhoid carrier.

ive always wanted a semi legal way to get all of those stray dogs ,cats ,rabits ,and squirrels out of my yard so i dont have to yell at my dogs to be quiet . i could just go to the window and they would my on their way . ive always thought about getting one for this use but right now i dont have the extra cash to afford one

If I was gifted with the green laser… I would take the grandson out to the ranch. In the ground blind, at night, with a good moon, to see the creatures of the night. Instead of monsters and scary things little kids think are out there, I could point out deer, racoon, skunk, and rarely, the coyote! He could have fun and see a new world beyond the daylight planet!

I would do all the experiments people have mentioned (obviously the reasonable and non-harming) and record the results to YouTube. I really like some of the ideas like the time-lapse photography.

I would make weird artistic peices by waving it around maniacally at huge swatches of photo-sensitive paper. Also, I’d probably youtube the whole thing just for funsies.

And, I’m not talking about tartar sauce.. b/c who doesn’t like tartar sauce on their fried fish. Oh, and I’m not talking about the Tatars in Russia, b/c people are people and we don’t use lasers to hurt people. And for those of you thinking steak… that’s tartar”e”.

I would use it to demonstrate the real reason for the Disney Hall’s crazy metal swooshes. When you shine a sufficiently powerful laser at it, it focuses it into… A Superlaser! (my pitiful red laser wasn’t nearly powerful enough to put Frank Gehry’s secret plan into motion)

Unfortunately it appears that I no longer have access to enough green laser diodes from your era to build the micro-ship I mentioned in the my previous post. Technology that old has become much more rare since my academy days. The only thing I could possibly offer would be to point the laser back at earth when I have a clear line of sight. You may have to wait awhile for the beam to reach you though.

Now if you come across a low yield Tachyon emitter I have a couple of colleagues that could show you a thing or two about what they would do with more tech than common sense:

I’d kill of spiders and other bugs in my apartment. I’ve been wanting one for a long time now. Every other method I tried (hammer, shoe, …) always leaves ugly stains. I figure a strong laser is the cleanest way to get rid of them.

I certainly know what I wouldn't do with it - point it at the lens of my Nikon D40 and try to take a photo of the insides of the laser with the beam being emitted. Paul Stammy learned this the hard way (http://paulstamatiou.com/2007/11/30/review-wicked-lasers-elite-150):

By the way, be careful should you ever take pictures of such a laser. While taking one of these pictures, the beam accidentally went into my Nikon D80 and permanently damaged the sensor.
