As if the nerdy humor and nerdier meta-humor of XKCD weren’t enough, this enterprising coder (apparently with a little too much time on his hands) created an interactive simulation of the raptor attack scenario brought up here and solved here. It takes a little imagination for those squares to look like raptors — although it’s not a stretch for yourself … oh, burn! It ain’t exactly new or groundbreaking, but hey, it’s Friday.

Put the mouse cursor on a line that takes your guy between 2 raptors… the further your cursor is from your guy, the faster he accelerates. Go straight between the raptors, then turn once you get past them. The raptors can accelerate faster than you can, but you get a head start, and you can turn faster than they can (they have a delayed reaction to your moves). Keep turning!

they’re right… if you can break away at just the right angle you can get out ahead of them and run in circles (more like squares) and they can’t catch up (i was too excited to have broken the 2.9 mark to keep going, but i could have gone much longer)
my method was running straight south at full speed and breaking southeast at just the right moment.
