Today (8/29/2009), I was listening to a program called, "China Today". It is a news program, done in English, that originates from China. One of the segments spoke of how Apple has partnered with one of the major cell phone providers in China to release the iPhone in China late this year. The segment also stated that the provider uses CDMA technology.

So, the question becomes, can a Chinese market CDMA iPhone be hacked so that it will work with Verizon's CDMA network?

Yeah, they have a deal that makes the iPhone only applicable on AT&T due to a 5 year contract. The contract is set to expire in 2012. THEN, there might be a chance for a CDMA, Verizon Wireless iPhone.

Ah the hopes of new technology such as LTE which I remember another service called WiMAX. It isn't that I don't believe the technology won't launch, but the time to implement it will be a few years. Even the 100Mbps downstream and 50Mbps upstream seem hard to swallow. On paper it might do that and under the right conditions with all planets aligned, but in reality it will be significantly less.

Do you get the maximum from your 100Mb or 1000Mb router? Do we all achieve what Fios or Cable advertises in speeds? Is a paper exactly 8.5 x 11 inches? I'm just saying it is an imperfect world and the ideas out there might be light years ahead, but it all comes down to cost. Why build new phone towers when you can piggyback on the old towers? All I am saying is don't count old technology out just yet.

I have a 1080 HDTV and I get more 720P and SD (480i) stations than I do 1080i/p stations. So in conclusion it shows that hardware might be upgrading, but the broadcasters are taking their sweet time. Oh yeah I can probably subscribe to directTV, cable, and Fios to get more channels, but that would be ridiculous (plus expensive). Kind of like having both ATT & Verizon as my phone providers.

Oh and don't bring up Apple vs. Microsoft conversations because it ends up being a endless circle of crap. It really comes down to what you use and some applications just aren't available for the Mac OS. You can argue an alternative, but that is like arguing Zune being a perfect alternative for Ipod. They aren't the same and they might do a few of the same things, but not exactly the same.

You can also argue a Mac OS can run windows either a boot method or virtually, but if you are going to be using a bunch of applications in Windows then why bother with a Mac? Isn't that kind of defeating the purpose? Plus Linux is another alternative, but I'm not going to go that far. Oh and Apple did finally give up on their chips and started to use Intel. Just saying that it might not be long until Apple gets their head out of their ass and allows the OS to not be proprietary. If their OS is so great than why not make it available to the entire world? Why force them to buy expensive hardware? Please don't tell me their hardware isn't expensive because if you opt for any of their "upgrades" it seems to cost an arm and a leg. I hear many people buy generic brands and put them in their golden apple boxes. It is just a matter of time when Steve Jobs the God of Apple dies and finally someone lets it blossom. The Iphone is able to do so many things, but is limited to the restrictive OS. It has to be jailbroken to unlock its full power and customization.

You can see I'm not an Apple fan, but I don't rule them out. I do have hopes for them and I do own an Ipod Mini, Zune 8 , Jailbroken Ipod Touch Gen 2 (closest option to iphone), and of course Verizon.

Well the thing is, Sprint is pioneering 4G, Verizon shortly behind them. AT&T is in the dust with 4G.

So I predict Sprint will be having it's moment in the sun when 4G is mainstream. Verizon will be before Sprint.

Um, every other country has the iPhone on all networks because every other country has GSM networks. CDMA is old school and gay as shit. I'm on VZW and hate it with a passion. Well, the tech and the bullshit devices they have, not the service. T-Mobile is a wack ass bullshit network. It's par with Sprint IMO. I can't believe no one has touched on this yet so here goes.....VZW will NOT get a CDMA iPhone ever. Never. No matter what ANY blog says. VZW, Sprint, and AT&T are currently developing the LTE/4G networks. This move is going to put all carriers on the same network and devices will meerly have internal lockouts which can be hacked (unlocking/jailbreaking). In reality, CDMA has about 2-3 years of life left and LTE networks will be rolling out in about 18-24 months. Another perk of LTE will be 5+mbps download speeds. This will start to bridge gaps in tech. Imagine standing in an airport and wirelessly connecting to a vending machine with your phone and paying through your checking account. This will be possible on the LTE networks. And LTE is the direction every carrier is headed. It would make no sence to develop any new GSM or CDMA devices and it's the reason that Apple keeps new hardware and software close to the original iPhone. It keeps their name in the news while waiting for the LTE drop. Lonnnnng story short, if you want an iPhone on VZW, you're going to wait for the iPhone2 LTE.

Come on people what apple needs to work its on bringing the Iphone to T-Mobile, Since the Iphone came out everyone started buying them and unlocking it to use it on the T-Mobile network, AT&T's prices are just outragious. I bet that about 50 percent of iphones sold in America where unlocked and used under T-Mobile. If about 4.7 millions iphones where sold under AT&T i bet that if it where on T-Mobile it would be double or 3 times. People on the T-Mobile network are not going to give up great service with the lowest prices to switch to AT&T just for an iphone. And why Isn't the iphone with every U.S carrier, since 2008 all does countries i visited every carrier in does countries have the Iphone. so qosh everyone would agree with me when i say: apple just let the iphone be in every U.S carrier everyone wants the Iphone but not AT&T!

I think congress should create then pass a bill/law that would require cell phone manufactures to produce gsm & cdma phones. That way it would give us, the consumer, the ability to choose a carrier based on it's services and coverage. This would create competition and thus create high level customer satisfaction, because of the pure competition. Think about it if att and sprint all had the same phones, would you pay $150 with the iphone on att to have unlimted everything (unlimited voice plan $99, unlimted text messageing $20, required data plan $30)? Or $99 for everything with Sprint. If that's the case then one can forget about the phones and base his/her decison on plan rates that favors Sprint or coverage that favors att.
Ofcourse I'm happy with my BB curve on the regional network Cellular South. $99 unlimted everything includind roaming, and Cellular South has agreements with mulitple major carriers so their roaming network is unmatched. My two cents though.

The global market share Iphone is trying to capture is most probable with the GSM network instead of CDMA since I only know Korea and USA to be the only countries that uses the technology that will be extinct in few years. Even though I think VZW is a superior network in terms of coverage and reliablity, I wouldn't bet on Apple investing the $ to re- engineer hardware. Expect a iphone with upgraded camera, video recorder and faster processor. I would like to see higher quality construction of the body- hate the plastic case.

Originally Apple was trying to release the iPhone with Verizon, but they were not able to reach an agreement. Latest rumors have an iPhone CDMA June of this year. Granted they are rumors, and I will believe it when I see it, as everyone in the industry seems to make up whatever they want when it comes to the iPhone.

Wall Street Journal says contract is through 2010; and AT&T is looking to extend through 2011.

(IMO: Apple will probably give it to them. But, it would be pretty cool if Apple did the same thing as my Samsung Ace, which can work in both CDMA and GSM. I'd pay for it, even w/out the rebate.)

So stop believing silly blog-comments and pick up a newspaper -at least they fact check sources.

Another major reason for Verizon not getting the iPhone first is they wanted to handle all support for there product, and did not want apple to be involved in the customer support.

I talked an Apple Insider, and they said that AT&T has the iPhone until 2012. The only way Apple can get the iPhone onto the EVDO coverage of Verizon, is if they release a new iPhone. So they could basically release the iPhone 3G, but call it the iPhone EVDO, and then AT&T can't do anything about it. Just as a side note, one of the reasons that Apple wasn't happy with Verizon, was because they wanted the Verizon logo to be printed somewhere on the phone which most Apple designers said would "detract from the pure beauty of the phone."
