The PSP-3000 may not seem like it’s worth upgrading from the PSP-2000 save for a few cosmetic changes, but it’s the firmware that makes all the difference says Eurogamer. In other words, if you just picked up a PSP there’s no need to have buyer’s remorse. However, the new screen is much “richer, warmer and deeper than the PSP-2000.” The third brightness setting is brighter than the current gen’s fourth brightness level, says Eurogamer. Does the PSP-3000 screen fare better in glaring light than the PSP-2000? You’ll have to wait and see since EG wasn’t able to get a day of sunlight in dreary England. At least there’s where I think the reviewer lives.
The d-pad and other buttons are more pronounced and feel much firmer according to Tom Bramwell. The built-in mic performed well during Skype calls so you can ditch the headset if you’re upgrading. The AC adapter is less brick-like and comes with a one-piece unit. Battery life remains the same at 5.5 hours as the current gen when playing games, but it could suffer while watching UMD videos.
Regarding firmware v4.2, a “USB Auto-Connect” option will automagically revert the handheld into USB mode when plugged in but not during gameplay and it won’t charge during gameplay either. It will charge when in USB mode like the current gen does.

I like the idea of a PSP. The hardware is nice, and the games are full blown console quality.
But, there’s always a catch. In this case, the catch is that the games are high quality, but they’re few and far between.
If Sony would get their act together on the games, I probably would be thinking about purchasing my third PSP. Unfortunately for them, I bought the first gen on launch day and sold it about a year later. I haven’t bought another one since.
I’m really curious to find out definitively if this breaks the Pandora Battery hack. I can’t imagine it not, but you never know…
A thousand times better than the PSP 2000?
I liked the idea of the PSP as well, I thought I was quite witty snagging episodes of stuff onto my PSP, but then the iPod video just changed the game up, and I ended up getting a DS for games, and iPod for video.
i have a psp and have recently bought my son one.all i can say is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTICOLA.we can play against each other without being stuck in front of the tv and i would surely miss mine if i didnt have one and so would my son who by the way is only 5 years old .

its not as good as you all think.the new psp screen SUCKS!!.Even though it has got a lot better features but the screen and those horrible lines has let the new psp down.
