[...] Haven’t had the time to test it properly. Will test it next time, if have the time…christmas maybe. The camcorder is quite small and light. And it comes free with 4GB SDHC. According to my camcorder i have 117 minutes of recording time. It’s small and light. This camcorder is usefull for beginner because you don’t have to change any settings. You can leave the setting to auto, press record and off you go. Here is the review by crunchgear [...]

This is a a really neat compact unit, light easy to use, great battery life.... but I'm seriously frustrated by one thing.
I used to have panasonic mini dv camcorders which were great to use with Windows Movie Maker. Editing & burning was a breeze.
The Cybershot software that comes with this samsung VP-MX20 camcorder is far less user friendly and has only limited features.
For all my efforts at file conversion, I am unable to convert the footage I have taken to a format that Movie Maker will accept. can anyone please help???
Thanks!!!

MPEG Streamclip will convert the H264 files into DV. Be sure to enable the checkbox that sets the wide-screen flag. Once exported as DV, your normal editing software should work fine.

I have just bought the Samsung VP-MX20/XEU Memory Card Camcorder. For a number of years I've used Various Panasonic Mini DV Camcorders for home movies, happily mucked around & edited using Windows Movie Maker..... No Probs!
I've yet to work out how to do the same with footage from this unit. The editing software supplied seems vastly inferior & less user friendly than movie maker.
Attempts I've made at file conversion & import of files to movie maker simply don't seem to work. Am I using the wrong file conversion tools?......Can anybody please Help out there???!!!!?

Please help, there seems to be some really knowledgeable people on some of these replies....I bought this camera and recorded about 4 hours of video from my sons football games. In trying to copy it to my PC only 12 files from the 176 copied then it seemed to get stuck. When I looked at the camera it said empty but in looking at the memory card it says it has 164 files left. When I tried to download it again it downloaded the same 12 files. Can anyone help me as to what is going on? I am sick if I lost the vido.....I have windows vista. Thank you....

I don't understand why these video reviews never show screen-captures of the video output so we can actually see the menus. And why do they never edit sample videos into the review viedo?

I guess (by watching the sample video) this camera records with interlace - which is a deal breaker for me. INTERLACING SUCKS!

Sorry; that's just plain wrong. MPEG Streamclip does just fine with MP4. Perhaps you're using a PC and have mis-configured your machine so QuickTime is prevented from working? Even without QuickTime installed, however, MPEG Streamclip will take advantage of the "QuickTime Alternative" codec.

In short: MPEG Streamclip is the perfect software for videos from the MX20.

This tip saved me big time. Talk about disappointment after initially seeing the video quality from this camera. But this software with one simple export feature restores everything to great (as good as this camera gets) quality.

One additional tip: Check 'Deinterlace' and your video will no longer look pixelated and noisy, but much much smoother.

I have one of these camcorders and i agree it is good, but i am having trouble with it. It won't let me access some features. It won't let me access some of the special image changing things like mirror and stepprinting. Also it won't let me access C.Nite. Can someone help me?

Just a note to those looking to use a wide-angle attachment for this camcorder. I took the one I had been using on my Canon ZR-50, found the proper 30.5mm adapter ring for it, connected it to the Samsung, and found terrible vignetting at the extreme wide-angle setting. That's not the camcorder's fault as the lens I was using wasn't designed for this unit. Once I zoomed in a bit, the vignetting disappeared and I still had what I would consider to be a 28mm or even a 24mm (in 35mm camera terms) wide-angle lens. I'm going to replace this wide-angle lens with a much better one designed for the MX20 (haven't found one yet) but the one from the Canon works okay for now. (It's not a genuine Canon lens; just a cheap-o I found on eBay some years ago.)

No, this is the way these non-tape camcorders store the footage. You may combine them once you copy them over to your computer using whatever software you prefer (iMovie, MPEG Streamclip, MediaEdit, etc.)
