That being said, not watching last night's debate does not mean you have to strongly worry about the state of our country. Frankly as I see it debates are for those who have not decided yet or need reinforcement that they are in fact voting for the right person. Many people have already made up their mind, as this has been an amazingly long campaign and many have done their independent research.

I didn't watch the debate last night, not because I don't care who is President but rather I am not a big fan of Tom Brokaw.

Also Tivo just flat out rocks and sometimes its nice to see an article that's main point is just that with all of the various DVR options out there the first mainstream DVR really is the best still.

I very much understand that you're a tech site, thank you very much.

And I don't expect you to espouse your political beliefs, your reading choices (unless tech related), or anything like that.

However, you DID just espouse your political beliefs in that you pointed out how little you seem to care about who is running for president and *that* is what's sad.

I think, Steve and John, you guys almost miss the point--we're a tech site, presumably read by tech enthusiasts. Yes, we do non-tech things, but the guy or gal who visits and reads the site doesn't necessarily want to hear about how we spent our evening reading Heart of Darkness. Now, if we spend our evening building an HTPC or, as Matt did, screw around with our TiVo, it's a little more relevant. That's all.

Man, you missed McCain's great imitation of Grandpa Simpson. That was not to be missed!

And Tom Brokaw complaining about the candidates standing in the way of his script. Priceless.

I couldn't agree more, however my wife also enjoys the new 90210 so my Tivo suggestions are very often Soap Opera type shows as a result. However yes Tivo really is the best investment ever. I am fairly confident, even with me as well frequenting the Pirate Bay for a lovely backlog of TV shows it still is the best option.

The only negative of Tivo is my growing contempt with watching any commercials.
