Tough times at Circuit City, which you can now buy outright for something like $38 and doing the CEO’s dry cleaning, as a credit agency has just warned manufacturers about shipping merchandise to the store. Seems the credit agency, Bernard Sands, isn’t sure whether or not Circuit City would be able to pay the manufacturers on time.
So… a store, which, by definition, is in the business of selling goods for profit, cannot afford the goods in the first place. The world is ending, my friends.

The WORLD isn’t ending, just the City.
Maybe they should carry less crap people don’t want.
Or make the crap they carry closer to the Newegg price after shipping.
oh, I almost care.
stupid shop, unhelpful staff, bad attitude, bad stock, bad vibe whenever you walk in.
I feel bad for the folks who are going to end up looking for work but it won’t be a loss on the retail landscape
I AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE CITY AM COMPLETELY AT A LOSS WHEN I HERE ALL THIS NEGATIVE TALK. I’M NOT SAYING ANYBODY IS WRONG HOWEVER THIS COMPANY IS CAPABLE OF BEING THE BEST RETAIL ELECTRONICS STORE. IF YOU HAVE HAD THE GREAT SERVICE THAT I KNOW MY STORE PROVIDES THAN I KNOW YOU HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME. PLEASE STICK WITH US AND REMEMBER THAT CIRCUIT IS NOT THE ONLY COMPANY HAVING A ROUGH GO RIGHT NOW. WE WILL MAKE IT THROUGH THIS AND BE STRONGER THAN EVER.
I’m glad I got my Onkyo SR606 receiver and 5.1 speaker set from them before they closed. Best Buy doesn’t carry Onkyo and having something that delicate shipped didn’t appeal to me. Plus, I work out of town, and I’m tired of using personal time just to be home to sign for the delvery of three-figure packages. I ordered on-line, drove to the store and picked it up. No problems. Not sure why all the Hatorade.
Not sure about the hate they got an ok selection of stuff. They need to get a friendlier staff at most stores and carry more entry level stuff the BB does not carry. Though now there stock i a good buy @ $0.40 per share.
Running business is not easy. I heard the management team of CC is not so competent. They don’t know how to do business and have no clue about solving current problems. Well, I believe the problem is really hard. CC is a big name. If he die, american will feel hurt and lost. Hope he could go through the difficult time.
Some stores are okay. Most of the stores have bad management form red neck towns like Weatherford in Texas. Had Nazi swaztika emblems on their walls at home. Treated minoeities badly. Especially employees. Need to fire the mafia characters. A complete change of management may save the company, but needs to be donw this week. Not next week when CC is a penny stock.
X-employee from the 90’s when it was only CC and the GOOD GUYS and the coolest store in town was just opening FRY’s
CC was a great to place to work for while going to COLLEGE back when CELL PHONES were starting to become affordable and PAGERS were being phased out… PORTABLE CD PLAYERS that you can use in your car with a CASSETTE Adaptor…. CAMCORDERS were getting smaller ,the only APPLE PRODUCT was the NEWTON, SHARP made organizers with 256K memory.
NINTENDO and SEGA @ WAR!! THAN DVD’s started to be the BUZZ!! Certain HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS didn’t want to release thier movies on DISC due to piracy issues so THAN CIRCUIT CITY brought out DIVX and that’s where it all started going down hill after the whole DIVX failure CC looses there APPLAINCES and BEST BUY PICKS it up!
THAN it became a PRICE MATCHING WAR!! I even PRICE MATCHED A few purchases which at times were cheaper than our AT COST DISCOUNT.
A decade later after working for a fun company I GET MY B.A.
and start working in the ENT. INDUSTRY
If you really want to get a feeling on how it was to work for CIRCUIT CITY watch 40YR OLD VIRIGN all the electronic store scenes are right on the DOT!!
