Is this a video of the new MacBook?

Here’s a video from that Apple.pro website – the same site that’s been leaking all of these supposed photos of the new MacBook. I would take this video with a grain of salt for the following reasons:

1. They never zoom out and show the whole thing.

2. It looks kinda like a MacBook Air. Also, the material around the screen seems to be different from the material around the keyboard and trackpad.

3. What’s up with covering the keyboard like that?

On the other hand, maybe Apple’s going to make the new MacBooks super thin like the MacBook Air. Most people seem to think these new MacBooks are going to be smaller, though, and this one still looks relatively normal in size.

Plus, why is it in black and white? When is the last time you saw a camera (phone/still/video) that shot in B&W?

If this is really the new MacBook the Brick does finaly not exist (see hardware holes on the material around the screen)

The paper on the keyboard can maybe hide an “Optimus Maximus Like” Keyboard with OLED displays?! (teasing “the spotlights turns to notebooks”…)

this is stupid. can we please stop posting these videos that only show the purported product in super close-up, blurry cam, black and white view? make them show the whole damn thing before reposting on a site like CG that actually has credibility and views.

this is exactly how blogs get a bad name and why big companies stop dealing with bloggers and, oh yeah, how apple builds up such a legion of fanboys vs haters

Blogs don’t get a bad name by posting stuff like this with a question mark in the title and using language like “supposed” and “take this video with a grain of salt” — big-boy news companies do that too. It’s the sites that post stuff like this saying “This is definitely the new MacBook!” that give blogging a bad name.

I’m not saying we haven’t gotten ahead of ourselves in the past, but I hope nobody reads this article thinking that I’m actually convinced that the video shows the new MacBooks. I simply posed a question in the title and then listed reasons it doesn’t seem legitimate. If anything, I hope that if people start to hear about this video, they’ll search for it and end up here to realize it’s probably not the actual new MacBook.

Trust me jj50, I don’t really like posting this stuff either but it’s gotta be done one way or the other.

Maybe I’ll get banned for this but, “on a site like CG that actually has credibility and views?” Common, let’s be a bit serious here. CG isn’t Engadget yet. I love CG for its own flavor, but no need to exaggerate.

I agree that this does look an awful lot like a MacBook Air, except for one thing.

Here’s the reasons why it could be a MacBook Air:
- They never show the full screen, which means the “MacBook” text could be off center (they covered the word “Air”).
- You never clearly show the base of the machine so you see if its thick, or a Air base.

So far it seems like a MacBook Air, except for:
- The hinge for the screen has a different shape. It’s the same shape as the hinge on the MacBook and MacBook Pro, rather than the rounded one the MacBook Air has.

My conclusion is, that this *could* be the new MacBook, however, I believe it’s more plausible that it’s actually a new revision of the MacBook Air. Since such a machine would most likely be a lot easier to get your hands on, as Apple would most likely keep a much tighter lid on a completely new redesign of the MacBook and MacBook Pro than it would of a minor revision upgrade to the MacBook Air.
